Celebrate this year’s Hispanic heritage with inspiring speakers.

In the United States, the term “Hispanic” or “LatinX” were adopted in an attempt to loosely group immigrants and their descendants who hail from this part of the world. Today’s generations are reclaiming their heritage and ancestral traditions.

Here are 5 public speakers that are unlearning assimilation, reclaiming their heritage and ways to becoming our most authentic selves. Many times that starts by becoming self-made.

Mariana Atencio
keynote speaker

Cultivating Authenticity: Reconnecting with our Latino Roots
It takes people 7 seconds to form an opinion about you. That’s why most of us are taught to
fit into a box, instead of embracing those parts of ourselves that stand out. This is only
heightened for Latinos, because there is less understanding of the nuances and
contributions of our community. As a former national TV journalist, Mariana is no stranger to labels. She was the only Latina correspondent at MSNBC for many years and often encouraged to leave parts of herself at the door. It wasn’t long before she realized that covering; did not bring out her best in the workplace or foster real belonging.
Through relatable anecdotes, actionable tools and dynamic exercises, including her newest “LatinXcellence Framework”, Mariana will lead the audience on a journey to embrace their
secret salsa and celebrate what we all bring to the table.

2. Nely Galan

Becoming Self-Made
With stories from her book about inspiring women who started and grew businesses out of ingenuity, opportunity and need, Nely Galán empowers women (as well as the men and the organizations that support them) to take financial control of their own lives with a self-made mindset. In this presentation she inspires people to explore their entrepreneurial potential and arms them with resources and tools to gain financial self-reliance.

3. Anel Flores

embracing our own personal story. Our lives are filled with unique experiences, triumphs, and
challenges that shape who we are. By exploring the power of our narrative, we unlock a

harnessing the power of our own story, and learn how it can guide us towards personal growth,

4. Liz Rebecca Alarcon

keynote speaker

In this talk, Liz goes on a deep dive into the power and influence of the Latino community, the
issues they’re facing, and the challenges and opportunities that lay ahead. From the first Latina
on the Supreme Court and the largest Latino Congressional Class in history, to the lack of
Latino representation in Board Rooms, in dressing rooms and operating rooms, Liz helps
audiences understand how far Latinos have come in our country’s history, and what audiences
should be doing to give this growing, economically powerful community decision making power
in their industry.
