As Juneteenth approaches, it’s a time for reflection, celebration, and education. At NOTA, we’re proud to present a lineup of dynamic speakers who embody the spirit of Juneteenth and bring invaluable insights and experiences to the table. Let’s introduce you to some of the remarkable voices you can invite to your Juneteenth events:
Cheryl Wills She/Her
TV talk show host, Emmy winning news anchor, Keynote Speaker, Author
Cheryl Wills is a veteran anchor for Spectrum News NYl-she joined the cable network during its launch in 1992. She is the primetime anchor for NY1 Live at Ten and she’s also the host of the public affairs talk show In Focus with Cheryl Wills. In 2018, Cheryl became the first African-American reporter in NY1’s history to win an Emmy Award.
Dr. Paul Ortiz He/Him
American Historian and Best-Selling Author
Paul Ortiz is a professor of history and director of the Samuel Proctor Oral History Program at the University of Florida. He is a National Archives Distinguished Fellow in Latinx History. In the fall semester of 2024, he will begin an appointment as Professor of Labor History at Cornell University.
Deanna Singh She/Her
Speaker, Entrepreneur
Deanna Singh wants to live in a world where marginalized communities have power. As an expert social entrepreneur, she is obsessed with making the world a better place, and she will build or break systems to create positive change.
Dr Ryan C. Warner He/Him

Samuel Collins III He/Him
Financial Consultant, historian and Associate Minister at Greater St. Matthews Baptist Church in Hitchcock, TX. BBA in Accounting from Texas A&M University.
Samuel Collins, III is a 7th generation Texan with roots back to 1837. He owns SLC
Investment Services and has been providing financial consulting services in Galveston
County for 24 years. In 2015 he was named Galveston County’s Citizen of the Year by the Galveston County Daily Newspaper for his work in the preservation community on the local, state and national levels.
