Joquina Reed is a J.E.D.I (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) practitioner and owner of JReed Consulting LLC. She holds an M.A in Communication Studies and formerly held a dual faculty administrator role at Louisiana State University as the Director of Forensics. It has been her deepest honor to be an aunt, educator, published researcher, conference presenter, and keynote speaker She is also the creator behind the Divesting from Whiteness and Please Say Black podcasts and curator of The AntiBlackness Reader project. Every day she wakes up committed to moving us all closer to the goal line of shared humanity. As a lifelong learner and educator, she affirms the words of her great ancestor, Anna Julia Cooper, “The cause of freedom is not the cause of a race or a sect, a party or a class - it is the cause of humankind, the very birthright of humanity.” As a DEI practitioner with a justice-oriented approach, she is fully invested in helping individuals and organizations identify their cultural incompetence and biases, assess organization structure, design interventions, and move forward with holistic strategies that support organic change. She lives and works on the unceded territory of the Houma and Chahta Yakni (Choctaw) peoples.
