Geralyn Lucas

American journalist

Television producer

Writer and public speaker

Geralyn has written two bestselling memoirs, the first, Why I Wore Lipstick to My Mastectomy, chronicled her breast cancer diagnosis at the age of 27, which became an Emmy-nominated television movie starring Patti LaBelle with an original song featuring P!nk and India.Arie. The book and movie were translated and loved around the world. Her next book Then Came Life chronicled how to mine the joy after surviving breast cancer and how to live up to every moment in her life. She is a sought-after speaker on surviving cancer, and a leading advocate on the need for more research and early detection. Her innovative “short” “Ouch,” encouraging women to get their mammograms, went viral, and earned her Webby honors.  A native of Philadelphia, Geralyn graduated from the University of Pennsylvania’s Annenberg School of Communications and holds a Master's degree, with honors, from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism.  She lives in New York City with her husband and two children.
