The recipient of over 40 leadership, business, nonprofit and media awards, including the L’Oreal Paris’ Women of Worth, California Black Caucus Leadership Award, Los Angeles County Women of the Year, Ford’s Living Legend Award, James Irvine Foundation Leadership Award, National Medical Fellowships Champions of Health Award and Greater Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce Lawyer of the Year Award. In 2022, Areva has been identified as one of 100 most Influential Blacks in the country and inducted into Know Your Legacy Virtual Black History Museum as a leading Black changemaker.

A USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author, Areva’s books include, The Everyday Advocate: Standing Up for Your Child with Autism; Make It Rain: How to Use the Media to Revolutionize Your Business and Brand; and Awakening: Ladies, Leadership and the Lies We’ve Been Told. Her fifth book on race and the Black/white wealth gap comes out in the Fall of 2023. The book is a part of a larger TV documentary series, which Areva will hosts and co-produce.

Areva is a successful, serial entrepreneur. She is the founder and CEO of Martin & Martin, LLP, one of Los Angeles’ premier Black, female-owned law firms, Special Needs Network, one of the nation’s leading autism and social justice organizations and Butterflly Health, a first-of-its kind mental health digital platform for underserved Medicaid populations.

She is an in-demand keynote speaker and facilitator on topics including Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Workplace Issues, Women in Leadership, Civil Rights, Social Justice, Activism and Special Needs. Whether it’s an audience of 50 or 5,000, Areva inspires, educates and motivates audiences to take action.

A native of St. Louis and graduate of Rosati-Kain High, Areva graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the University of Chicago and Cum Laude from Harvard Law School. Areva, her husband and three children, two of which are in law school, live in Los Angeles.
